Ana Masis-Vargas, MSc, PhD - BMC, Netherlands

Ana has a BSc in Nutrition from the University of Costa Rica, she also took a year of ERASMUS exchange studies in Public Health Epidemiology at Karolinska Institute. After returning to the University of Costa Rica she obtained a MSc in Biomedical Sciences with emphasis in Physiology while also teaching physiology to undergrad students. She obtained a double degree PhD in Neurosciences / Medical Sciences from the University of Strasbourg and the University of Amsterdam, respectively. She is interested in strengthening the use of the 3Rs in animal experimentation, increasing awareness of the ARRIVE guidelines among editors and promoting open access. Ana joined BMC in 2022 and is the editor of BMC Nutrition.
