An eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) rich diet limits inflammatory cytokine release and gene expression within the small intestine following 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). Serum concentrations of IL-6 (a) and TNF-α (b) were measured. Relative gene expression (ΔΔCt) within the small intestine were also measured for IL-6 (c) and TNF-α (d) C57BL/6 mice were fed their respective diets and them treated with 7 days of 10 mg/kg body weight intra-peritoneal 5-Fluorouracil or 0.1 mL/day saline (sham).
